About the Teacher

Hello parents and students! My name is Lindsay Reed. This will be my 13th year in my teaching profession, as well as, my fifth year at Rosehill Elementary. I have been living in Tomball for the past 9 years and I love working in the same district where I live and being part of such a close-knit community.

I have a Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education from Lubbock Christian University and a Master's degree from Sam Houston State University.

I was married in 2008 and moved to the Tomball area. My husband and his parents are both Tomball alumni and always spoken highly about the school district. My husband and I have 2 beautiful sons. My oldest is 6  and attends 1st grade here at Rosehill. My youngest son just turned 3.
I love being outside, working on our home, traveling, reading, and spending time with my family.

I have taught several different grades, but I am in love with 2nd grade. I look forward to coming to school every day and am excited about the upcoming school year!

Our Week

Hello, parents! A few things for the week:

First of all, our spelling pattern is that our words are all -ng and -nk words. I've place some interactive games on my website under Useful Links to practice.

Secondly, Picture Day is this Wednesday. Please send your child to school with their order form tomorrow or Wednesday.

And finally, I really want us to strengthen our skills at fact fluency, so I am requesting donations for basic addition/subtraction flash cards. If you are able to donate any for the classroom I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you so much!

School Pictures

Hello, parents! Our school picture day will be next Wednesday, September 27th. I am sending home purchase order forms with your child today in their blue daily folders. Please look through the form and decide if you want to purchase a package. You can have your child bring it back next week. Thanks and have a great weekend!

Parents, here are some reminders and clarifications for a few things that you might need to know:

Your child will be getting a math test break down in his/her Wednesday folder tomorrow. Since we are unable to send home the actual test, this page will let you know what specific skill he/she did not master on last week's test. More information on this will be discussed at Parent Orientation.

Thursday will be our Parent Orientation Night. We will be covering the basics of second grade including procedures, data documentation, responsibilities and expectations. It will be from 6:00 to 7:30 in your child's homeroom.

Looking ahead, we will have our fall picture day next Wednesday morning! Another reminder will be sent out next week :)

Also, some children will be receiving a book bag in their backpack. We are trying to rotate this to where everyone will get one throughout the year. Please read this book with your child and sign it.

Lastly, the making of our school yearbook is in full swing! If you have any photos that you would like to share, please help contribute to our annual yearbook.

Thank you for all of your support! Hope to see you Thursday!

Test

Hello, parents! We will be taking a social studies test on Wednesday. The test will cover good citizenship. Specifically, it will cover: responsibilities at home and school, good citizen traits, and the importance of good citizenship. I will be reviewing the material with your child tomorrow. Thanks and have a great night!

Notes

Hello, parents! We had another great week. Just a few notes. Next week's spelling words will all be long vowel sounds. I've added some interactive games onto my webpage if you would like your child to practice long vowel words at home. They are listed under my Useful Links tab. Next week, we will also be starting a new unit on place value in math. There are also some links for games for this skill too.

Also, our Parent Orientation will be next Thursday, September 21st from 6:00-7:30. I will send some more information on that later in the week. Please mark your calendars for that date. I'd love to have all of my parents come. Everyone have a great weekend!

Reminders and Happenings

Hello, parents! We had another great day in our room today. I wanted to remind everyone to send their child to school with a photograph of some kind for Friday's writing assignment, preferably of your child at an important time in their life (losing a tooth, holiday, family vacation, etc.)

I also wanted to let everyone know that I was just informed that we will not be having a spelling test this week. Your child may practice the words, but we will not be testing them on Friday. However, please make sure that you and your child work on their math homework. I will be collecting those on Friday. Thanks and if anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me!

Our Week

Hello, parents! Welcome back for the second time around! I know that we are all happy to get back into our routine so I just want to give you guys some reminders and let you know what's going on in our class.

If you can, please send a pair of headphones to school. The kids will soon be using their own personal pair for computer games and activities.

We are also doing a writing activity on Friday in which the kids are being asked to bring in a photograph. This photo can be of ANY activity or event that they can talk and write about. It will be sent home as soon as we complete the activity.

We will begin with our weekly spelling tests this Friday. Your child should have a pre-test in his/her backpack to use as a study guide. If you need to access the spelling list, please remember they are listed on my webpage.

We will also begin weekly math homework pages today. Typically, this page will be sent home on Monday and will be due on Friday.

I apologize for the LONG message! Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful week!

Going Back!

Parents, I am so glad that I've gotten to speak to most of you and I know that you and your home made it through the storm safely. Just a reminder that school will be starting again on Tuesday, since Monday is Labor Day. I am really looking forward to seeing my kids again and finally getting to begin our school year. Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Checking In

Hello, parents! I can honestly say this has been the craziest beginning to a school year that I've ever experienced.

I am hopeful that all of my families are doing well and are safe right now. We are completely fine over here (minus a little cabin fever), but we haven't experienced any water in the house or power outages. If you can, please email me and let me know how you and your family are fairing in this storm. And if anyone needs any help, please let me know that too.

I am honestly missing my kids, who I felt like I was just beginning to get to know in the first 3 days of school. I'm looking forward to starting back again and getting into a routine. Please tell my kids that I miss them and I will see them on Tuesday! Thank you and everyone stay safe!

Good evening parents!

We had a wonderful two days back to school! I enjoyed getting to know each and every one of your kiddos in my class. It is going to be a great year! Here are a few reminders.

Orientation night for 2nd grade is Thursday, August 31st from 6:00-7:30. Hope to see you there!

Please have your child bring headphones if they have not done so already.

Thank you and let me know if you have any questions.

Finishing Up the Year

Hello, parents! I have truly had one of my favorite teaching years this year due to my amazing children and their parents. Thank you all so much for everything you've done this year!

I just wanted to let you know a few things before we finish up this year. First of all, I am sending your child home with some papers today. This is just practice work for them to do over the summer. These papers will cover a variety of topics that we covered in Math this year. Secondly, I wanted to remind everyone that tomorrow will be an early release day and we will be dismissing at 12:50.

Please have an incredible summer and I hope you will all come by and see me again next year!

Next Week

Hello parents! Here is a list of things that will be going on during the last week of school. We're hoping to fill our last few days together with tons of fun!

Our last award ceremony will be on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00. Please feel free to join us, if you like.

On Tuesday, students can bring their favorite board game to play with friends. They may also bring a beach towel for some outdoor reading and another picnic lunch.

On Wednesday, we will have an electronic party. The kids can bring their favorite electronic device to use in class, but please keep in mind, your child will be responsible for his/her device.Lastly, our end of the year party will be on Wednesday at 2:40. A request has been made by our Room Moms for contributions. Please contact me if you have any questions and feel free to join us that afternoon, as well.

Thank you so much for all of your support and cooperation! It has truly been an incredible year!
