FYI - This week....

Hello, Everyone!
Wow! We had a full week last week!  Moving on Up! was a blast!!  Thank you again to parents for helping out! We also had our DI team competing in Knoxville, TN!  They made us all VERY proud!!  On top of all of that, one of our students, her family, and therefore our class was videotaped for a marketing video that the district is putting together!  Talk about a NEW experience!!  The kids did a wonderful job! Tomball is a great place to raise a family and we were privileged to participate in promoting this message for the district. I hope all the "talk" from your kiddos after school on Friday wasn't too confusing! They seemed to have a lot of fun!
Here is what you will need to know to get through these last few days of school...
  • All A's All Year - Pizza Lunch (Check your child's grades online or their award certificate we gave them following Moving on Up! if you want to know if they participate.  Invitations were handed out, but with the busy week and several students gone, it may not have made it home.)
  • Auction - PLEASE make sure your child brings at least 2 GENTLY used items for the auction.  They may bring more, but everyone is asked to bring at least 2.  If we don't have anything to auction off, this won't be a very fun experience.
  • Jumang12:30 - 2:30 - We will be watching Jumanji as a wrap up to our Chris Van Allsburg study.  Thank you for sending the permission forms in so quickly!
  • Autograph Time 2:50 - 3:30 - We will end the day with autograph time in the cafeteria.  Students will need their yearbook or some kind of autograph booklet (they can make one at school) for signatures. If you are checking younger siblings out early following their end of the year party, please make sure you follow checkout procedures with the front office if you want your 4th grader as well.
Thursday - LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!  This is a 1/2 day!  Your child is encouraged to wear their "Class of 25" shirt one last time as a group!  The "Walk of Honor" will start around 12:45.  Plan to get to the school early so you get a good spot!
It has been my privilege and my honor to be your child's teacher this year.  I pray they will continue to grow emotionally, physically, socially, and academically as they move into the next stage of their education.

Moving on Up! Tomorrow!!!

Don't forget that MOU is tomorrow at Trinity Vineyard Church!  Each child will be given their t-shirt at school tomorrow.  Please make sure they wear tennis shoes to protect their toes!
Tuesday Schedule:
  • Moving on Up! at Trinity Vineyard Church in Cypress.  We will arrive around 10:00-10:15 and leave around 1:15.
  • Awards Ceremony - At 2:30 in the cafeteria at school.
We hope to see you there!

Fidget Spinners

Hello, Parents,
These items are proving to be used as a toy rather than the intended purpose they were designed for.  They are not allowed at Rosehill Elementary School.
Thank you,
Mendy Wandling

Happy Camper Tomorrow!

In conjunction with the Book Fair theme, students are encouraged to dress like a happy camper tomorrow!

Your child brought home TWO forms today.  I need them ASAP, but no later than this FRIDAY, MAY 19TH!

  • One is a permission form to ride the bus next Tuesday to our Moving on Up! event!  Your child will be left at the school if he/she does not have this form.
  • The second form is for parent/guest attendance for the event! You must PRE-REGISTER or you will be sent back to the school to sign in before you will be allowed to stay.  This measure helps us all be safe.  Thanks

Tomorrow is Texian Time Machine Day!  Please have your child wear tennis shoes and shorts (it will be hot)!

This Thursday is the 1st Annual Kickball game.  We have Papa John's & Chick-fil-a coming to serve food that evening.  These 2 restaurants will ONLY BE TAKING CASH; no credit card payments!  Plus, snow cones will be on sale from RES.

This week's news.... & Tonight's Homework!

May.....already??????  Oh my!!!  Buckle up!  This month is a fast ride!!
1. Field Day - Coach Tripp send home a form in last week's Wednesday's folder asking for help as well as needing a lunch count.  We need to know if your child will bring a sack lunch or need one from the cafeteria on Friday, May 12th.

4. STAAR Testing next Monday and Tuesday!!!  Please mark your calendar!
5. Homework this week:  Since there is no more spelling, your child will bring home a one page, quick reading comprehension practice.  Please make sure they come to class with it done!

Thank you for all of your support!!!

Happy Easter!!

I hope all of you have a wonderful Easter Weekend!
By the way....  I have some laminating that I need cut.  If any of you have some extra time on your hands and wouldn't mind doing it for me, that would be fantastic!  You can either come up here and do it, or you can take it home. I need it by next Friday.
Thank you so much!

Date Change!! Message from Wendy White

4th grade Parents,

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Moving On Up Celebration – DATE CHANGE!!!

Our awesome 4th grade DI Team has advanced to Globals in Knoxville, TN the same week we are supposed to have our Moving On Up Celebration. We have decided to “MOVE UP” the original date from Friday, May 26th to Tuesday, May 23rd  so every student can be present. The award program and slide show presentation are still scheduled after the celebration at 2:30. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please let me know if you have any questions. Be looking for the t-shirt order form coming next week in the Wednesday folders!

This week's news....

Hello, Everyone!!
Happy Easter week!!  As a reminder, we will not have school this Friday!  Enjoy your weekend with your family!
NOTICE!!!!  We tried to warn you at the beginning of the year if you came to Open House.... A LOT of events happen in fourth grade in May!  And....with those events comes costs attached.  You will be receiving a flyer in your child's Wednesday folder about the Texian Time Machine.  This is our "field trip" for the year. However, we do not leave RES for this event.  The cost if $5.  Please save your pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, etc. in order to cover this.  Next Wednesday, we will be sending a notice about the cost for Moving Up!!  This is your child's FINAL elementary school event!  Once costs money to pull this "BIG DEAL" off!  I believe the cost will be $15 again this year.  This includes the fun, the food, and a Class of 24 shirt with all of the 4th graders' names on the back!  If you have been saving the RES T-shirts through the years and plan on making a blanket out of them, this makes a GREAT center piece for it!  SOOOO save up!  And....if you need assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.  I will ask no questions, but I will do what I can to support your child so they don't get left out!
Spelling City Link for this week's words.  TEST on Monday, the 17th!
Reading: We are working on test prep strategies for the STAAR Reading test in small group.  The kids are also enjoying listening to different people across the district read The Lemonade War and thinking through the text with their stop and jots.  They should still be reading their good fit book as well as stopping and jotting each night!
Writing: The kids are doing an independent research project on a topic of their choice.  We are working through this step by step.  It will end up as an article with text features and everything!!
Social Studies:  We are discovering how the Civil War impacted Texas as a new state.  We joined the United States at a very unsure time for our country.  This is a sad but important part of our history.
As always, if you have questions, please let me know!
Mendy Wandling
