Welcome to Ms. Altman's Class. Here is where I will update you on important information.

Make sure that you are checking out the Math and Science pages for upcoming topics and references/resources to help at home.

Work on multiplication and division math facts daily!!! Your student should know their facts up to multiples of 12. Check the extra websites I have listed for practice on the math page.

Also, if your student receives a grade that you or they are not happy with, please have the student redo the work and send it back for some credit. Most of the time a student may not have read all the directions (and we are working on that in class), so they missed some questions/parts. Just have your student answer those questions and send it back in Wednesday folders or red homework folders.

ALL YEARBOOKS have been sent home with students.  If you ordered a book, but did not receive it yet, contact PTO ( IMMEDIATELY.

Also, if you missed ordering a book & would like one, we have a few extra.  These will be available at the front desk for $20 (cash or check; payable to RES PTO).  First come, first serve.

Moving Up Day Papers

Hello, Everyone!

Yesterday I sent home a PINK and GREEN sheet with your student. This is the permission slip to go to Moving Up Day and a Pre-Registration sheet if you are coming that day (May 23). I will need them by THIS FRIDAY or before!  I am sooooo sorry for the last minute notice, but we just got these yesterday!  I will be paying my kids for returning them before Friday, but they are DUE FRIDAY, May 19!


New Information

This Thursday is the 1st Kickball game.  We have Papa John's & Chickfila coming to serve food that evening.  These 2 restaurants will ONLY BE TAKING CASH; no credit card payments!  Plus, snow cones will be on sale from RES.  

YEARBOOKS - We do have a few yearbooks extra so if you missed your chance to order one contact the school receptionist or your child's teacher.  Each book is $20.

Book Fair Next Week: Our class visit to the Book Fair day is on Tuesday. Students with money will be able to purchase books during this time.

Upcoming Events

1. Field Day - Coach Tripp send home a form in last week's Wednesday's folder asking for help as well as needing a lunch count.  We need to know if your child will bring a sack lunch or need one from the cafeteria on Friday, May 12th.
2. Career Day - We only have one volunteer for this so far!  If you are willing and able to present to our 4th graders about what you do, please let me know.  There is a green form. The date for Career Day is Friday, May 19th.
3. Please make sure that your student has sent in their $5 for the Texian Time Machine and the $15 for Moving Up Day. We are so close to being at 100% complete for this.  Thank you for ALL your help with this, I know it is A LOT here at the end (hard to believe it is almost the end). Moving Up Day is May 23rd from 9-1 and End of Year Awards will be after that when we get back to the school.
4.Please don't forget on the Last Day of School, the Fourth graders do their Graduation Walk through the school as the exit onto Intermediate.  I really encourage you all to be there.  It is sad (coming from when mine did it), but it a special and memorable time.

STAAR Camp May 1-5

In order to get the students excited and more enthusiastic about the upcoming STAAR, we are having dress up incentives each day for STAAR Camp. You will find the different themes for each day for the week of May 1-5. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Monday (May 1)- “Get Wild and Crazy about STAAR” and wear mismatched clothes, crazy socks, and wild/crazy hair.

Tuesday (May 2)- “Shine like your Favorite STAAR” and dress like him/her (could be actor/actress, athlete, singer, etc…).

Wednesday (May 3)- “On a Mission to STAAR Success” and wear camo to complete the mission.

Thursday (May 4)- “Time for a Vacation to the Beach” and wear beach attire and bring a towel to sit/layout on during rotations.

Friday (May 5)- “Rally around your Favorite Team...Be a Team Player” and wear your favorite team gear (jersey, hat, socks, etc…).

Moving Up Day

I would like to ask that you PLEASE try and get your student's Moving On Up t-shirt order and $$ in ASAP. We would like to have all orders by next Wednesday, with Thursday (May 4th) being the DEADLINE! The total is $15 and we need the shirt size and whether or not you want your child's name on the back of the shirt.  I am attaching an extra order form in case you need one. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Important Information for Upcoming Events

Texian Time machine on-campus field trip is coming!! This is an incredible event that the kids will remember forever! The cost is $5.00/ child. Payment is due by next Friday at the latest. So far I have $0 to turn in for this event. 
Also, a purple form went home in Wednesday folders yesterday about our 4th grade Graduation Celebration a.k.a. Moving on Up! This is quickly approaching, PLEASE send in your $15 to cover costs of this extra special day as well!! This will be our "class party" but completely ramped up! 

Moving Up Day

4th grade Parents,

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Moving On Up Celebration – DATE CHANGE!!!

Our awesome 4th grade DI Team has advanced to Globals in Knoxville, TN the same week we are supposed to have our Moving On Up Celebration. We have decided to “MOVE UP” the original date from Friday, May 26th to Tuesday, May 23rd  so every student can be present. The award program and slide show presentation are still scheduled after the Celebration when we return to the school. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please let me know if you have any questions. Be looking for the t-shirt order form coming next week in the Wednesday folders!

Important Information

Cougar Dash money is due this Thursday since there is NO SCHOOL on Friday.

Currently we have raised $11,167 towards our $13,000 goal

Right now, we are very close to being able to purchase 2 pieces of new playground equipment - the Ten Spin (like a merry-go-round) & the Buddy Rocker (a multi person teeter totter)!!!!

It takes all of us to make this happen for our students!!!!

Cougar Dash- Fun Run

Cougar Dash is this Friday!! Please remember to send your child to school Friday wearing their class shirt that went home yesterday. They may pair this shirt with their favorite super hero accessories! (No masks, please). Some classes are really going all out with this!  
Also, we would love to have as many parents attend to be cheerleaders! Please come help cheer our class to victory!  

Help Needed!

Calling all RES dads, step dads, older brothers ---- all of the MEN that support our students............... 

Tuesday, March 28th is the 4th grade STAAR Writing test -- we are looking for "Cheerleaders" that morning from 8:10-8:40 am.  No costumes; No pom poms; Simply come to hoot, holler, high five the students as they enter the building through the front & at the bus ramps.

 We look forward to seeing the kids' faces as they see how much we all believe in their abilities to Write Like Rock Stars!!!!
