Hello Rosehill Cougars! My name is Leticia Piña. This is my third year at Rosehill Elementary and my tenth year teaching. I only moved to Tomball a couple of years ago, but I have already fallen in love with our community and our school! I have a great passion for teaching second grade and am extremely excited about this school year. I have lots of goals and expectations for my second graders because I know how smart they are and know they can be successful.

Thank You

My final edlio for the year is simply to say thank you to each and every one of you. This year has been challenging, but so wonderful. I have loved getting to know each of your children and more importantly, watching them grow. I gave as many hugs as possible today and told them I was proud of them. I truly hope they know how special they are to me.
Have a wonderful and safe summer and please feel free to stop by to visit sometime!

This Week's happenings

Hello parents,
We have a lot of things coming up this week and in the near future. Here's what you need to know:

- Our class will be having a math Science test on Wednesday and a Math test on Thursday. Both review pages went home in their blue folders today.
- Field Day is Friday. I will send another reminder later this week about the details, but please keep in mind the kids should be wearing their green class shirt and dress comfortably for a day full of activities.
- Our library will be having the Spring book fair. Here is the link to the books that can be purchased. Stay tuned for specific book fair events.

- Lastly, please remember we will have STARR testing on campus and cannot have any visitors on campus tomorrow.

Thanks for your cooperation and have a great week!

Field Day, Career Day & Animal Projects

Our field day is quickly approaching, and we still need volunteers. If you are available and would like to help out, let us know. Also, if you have not done so yet, please return the field day form that indicates whether your child will need a sack lunch for that day (May 12th).

We also have career day in a few weeks. If you are available and would like to speak to the second graders about your career on the afternoon of May 19th, please send me an email or return the yellow information page sent home last week in Wednesday folders.

Your child brought home an animal habitat project yesterday (blue page). This assignment will be due on Friday, May 12th. Each student needs to make a diorama using the animal researched in class. Please feel free to call or email if you have any questions about the assignment. Because of this, there will be no math homework this week.

Next Monday and Tuesday 3rd and 4th grade will be having STAAR testing. Due to the testing, the campus will be closed to visitors.

Lastly, thank you for the supply donations for our landform activity! The kids are super excited! Have a great week!

Field Trip

Hello parents! Tomorrow is field trip day! Here are a few reminders that I have already shared with the kids in order for us to have a successful, fun field trip:
- Please be sure to wear comfortable closed-toe shoes with their green cougar dash t-shirt. They will not be able to participate if their shoes are in violation.
- If your child is bringing his/her lunch, please pack it in a disposable bag (brown bag or grocery bag will work).
- Please be sure that your child is on time tomorrow morning so that buses can depart promptly at 9:00.
- Lastly, if you'd like your child to wear sunscreen, please be sure to apply this at home before school.
Thank you so much!

This Week's Happenings

Hello parents,
Here are a few reminders and notifications for what's going in this week:
- We have been learning about significant historical figures in social studies and will be having a test tomorrow. The kids will be reading a passage about Amelia Earhart and George Washington Carver and will need to identify their contributions.
- Please join us tomorrow for RES Spirit Night at Frey's Backyard! Part of the proceeds will go towards Rosehill!
- Thursday is the final day to turn in Cougar Dash donations. Please be sure to send your envelopes by that day.
- Also, please don't forget we will be going on our field trip NEXT Friday. If you haven't done so yet, please be sure to send the permission slip so that we can plan accordingly.
Thank you so much for your cooperation!

Science Test & Lemonade War

Hello parents,
Our class will be taking a science test over our plant unit on Wednesday. A review was sent home today to prepare.
The kids are also taking home a new book called The Lemonade War. This book is part of a state-wide program in which all of the students read and discuss the same chapter book. Please feel free to read as far ahead as you like with your child. In addition to reading the book, they are encouraged to wear yellow on every Monday of April.
As always, thanks for your support!

Cougar Dash!

Cougar Dash is this Friday!! Students will be given their class team shirt on Friday morning to wear that day.  They may, however, come to school with their favorite super hero accessories and comfortable running shoes! (No masks, please). Also, we would love to have as many parents attend to be cheerleaders! 😃 See you Friday!

Math Test

This is just a quick and friendly reminder that our math test over measurement will be given on Monday. Please be sure to spend some time reviewing the small booklet that was sent home earlier this week.
Also, due to the administration of the STAAR writing test that will be held on Tuesday, no visitors will be allowed on campus for any reason.
Thank you so much and have a wonderful weekend!
