Hi! My name is Mrs. Davis. I am SO excited to be teaching at Rosehill Elementary this year!  More importantly, I am THRILLED to be your 2nd grade teacher. This will be my 8th year teaching and 7th year teaching 2nd grade. I LOVE 2nd grade! It is going to be a fun year full of LOTS of learning and I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us. I want to know ALL about you, but first I am going to tell you a little about me.

I was born in Columbus Ohio, but moved to North Carolina at a young age. After college I moved to Texas and have been here for about eight years now. I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte… Go 49ers!! I majored in Elementary Education and could not wait to start teaching.

I have two dogs that are spoiled rotten. Tara is a Rhodesian Ridge back mix and Sam is a Terrier mix. Sam is the one always getting into trouble and I am sure you will hear many stories about him this year.

Hello, parents! Our school picture day will be next Wednesday, September 27th. I am sending home purchase order forms with your child today in their daily folders. Please look through the form and decide if you want to purchase a package. You can have your child bring it back next week. Thanks and have a great weekend!

Parents, here are some reminders and clarifications for a few things that you might need to know:

- Your child will be getting a math test break down in his/her Wednesday folder tomorrow. Since we are unable to send home the actual test, this page will let you know what specific skill he/she did not master on last week's test. More information on this will be discussed at Parent Orientation.

- We will have our unit test over citizenship tomorrow in Social Studies. Concepts that we have learned include characteristics of a good citizen and how we can demonstrate these characteristics at home, school and in our community.

- Thursday will be our Parent Orientation Night. We will be covering the basics of second grade including procedures, data documentation, responsibilities and expectations. It will be from 6:00 to 7:30 in your child's homeroom.

-Looking ahead, we will have our fall picture day next Wednesday morning! Another reminder will be sent out next week :)

- Lastly, the making of our school yearbook is in full swing! If you have any photos that you would like to share, please see the flyer attached below and help contribute to our annual yearbook.

Thank you for all of your support! Hope to see you Thursday!

Good afternoon parents!

  • Friday, we will have our first Math assessment. This will cover basic math facts and strategies. We will review in class.

Hello, parents! We had another great day in our room today. I wanted to remind everyone to send their child to school with a photograph of some kind for Friday's writing assignment, preferably of your child at an important time in their life (losing a tooth, holiday, family vacation, etc.)

I also wanted to remind you to please make sure that you and your child work on their math homework. I will be collecting those on Friday. Thanks and if anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me!

Parents-

Welcome back for the second time around! I know that we are all happy to get back into our routine so I just want to give you guys some reminders and let you know what's going on in our class.

-If you can, please send a pair of headphones to school. The kids will soon be using their own personal pair for computer games and activities.

- We are also doing a writing activity on Friday in which the kids are being asked to bring in a photograph. This photo can be of ANY activity or event that they can talk and write about. It will be sent home as soon as we complete the activity.

- We will begin with our weekly spelling tests this Friday. Your child should have a daily folder in their backpack with these words. If you need to access the spelling list, please remember they are listed on my webpage.

- We will also begin weekly math homework pages today. Typically, this page will be sent home on Monday and will be due on Friday.

- If you are still interested in ordering books from the Scholastic book order form, please do so by Friday.

I apologize for the LONG message! Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful week!

 Hello families!

I hope everyone is staying dry and safe during Hurricane Harvey's devastating rain. If anyone needs anything please let me know. Rosehill is a family and we want to make sure our students and families are safe. I can't wait to see the kids sweet faces next Tuesday, September 5th.

Ms. Davis

Thanks for your cooperation and have a great week!

Happy Monday May 1st!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Our field day is coming up fast and we still need volunteers, so if you are available and would like to help out let us know.   Also, if you have not done so yet please return the field day form including if your child needs a sack lunch on field day.

Today your child will be coming home with an animal habitat project. This will be due on Friday, May 12th. The student needs to use the animal they researched in class. Due to this project there will be no Math homework this week.

Next Monday and Tuesday 3rd and 4th grade will be having STAAR testing. Due to the testing, the campus will be closed to visitors.

Please let me know if you have a career that you would like to share with the 2nd graders on career day.

Thank you for all your support this year and have a great week!

Hello parents! Tomorrow is field trip day! Here are a few reminders that I have already shared with the kids in order for us to have a successful, fun field trip:

 - Please be sure to wear comfortable closed-toe shoes with their blue cougar dash t-shirt. They will not be able to participate if they do not wear closed-toe shoes.

 - Please pack your child's lunch in a disposable bag (brown bag or grocery bag will work).

 - Please be sure that your child is on time tomorrow morning so that buses can depart promptly at 9:00.

- Lastly, if you'd like your child to wear sunscreen, please be sure to apply this at home before school.

 Thank you so much!
