About Me

Hello!  My name is Ms.Herrera and I am going to be your 1st grade teacher! This will be my 1st year of teaching and my second year at Rosehill! I was lucky enough to do my student teaching at Rosehill. I feel incredibly blessed to be part of such an amazing school in a great community.  My passion is building meaningful relationships with all of my students and getting them EXCITED about learning!  I cannot wait to learn all about you, but first I am going to tell you a little bit about me.  I  graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Houston (GO COOGS).  My fiance and I will be getting married this October, so I will soon be Mrs. Miller.  I love spending time with my family, going camping, traveling, and just relaxing.

-Word Work: We will learn about Bossy -r Words with -ar (Ex: bar, star, yard, bark, hard, yard)

-Grammar: We will learn about prepositions - that show where. (Ex: under, over, in between, in, next to, beside) 

-Writing: We will be responding to Science. 

-Math: We will continue to learn about Place Value to 120 

-Science: We will identify objects in the Sky

Box Car Derby, Friday, November 20th

Hello Parents! 
As part of our Science Force and Motion unit, First Grade will have a "Box Car" derby.  The competition will help our students understand the different aspects of force and motion on an object.  Please help your child make a "box car" out of tissue boxes, cardboard, wood or any other household items. Please do not buy a prepackaged model car. 
 
The Due Date is Wednesday, November 18th
 
Car Race: Friday November 20th
