Welcome to another great school year at Rosehill Elementary. My name is Jennifer Gordon.  I graduated from University of Houston in 2004.  I have a son, Texas, entering Tomball High School and Cali, a fourth grader here at Rosehill.   I am looking forward to a wonderful year where we will laugh, learn, make mistakes and grow together as a family. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make this school year more successful for your student. Together we can achieve "High Expectations that Lead to Lifelong Learners"

Next 2 weeks 5/21-5/31

Tuesday- We will have our Science benchmark....last science grade of the year. Review in class Monday.
Friday- Our final Camping project is due.  We have been working on this project in class for the last 6 weeks.  Some may need to work at home to complete this project.  Most are on schedule.  This will be our last math grade for the year.
 
Monday- 5/28 No school- Memorial day holiday- Be safe and have fun!
Wednesday- Class parties 2:30-3:30
Thursday- LAST DAY/HALF DAY- Dismissal at 12:50 AND Award ceremony- time:TBD

Field Day was a wonderful celebration!  Thank you for your support this year!  It wouldn't of been such a success without all my awesome parents!  Thank you!

Reminder
  • wear your Rosehill All Star Shirts tomorrow
  • bring a water bottle
  • bring a lunch if possible (picnic lunch) students will be allowed to get a sack lunch from the cafeteria if needed
  • Events start at 9 and go until lunch time
  • sunscreen your kiddos before they arrive
  • hats are encouraged....it will be a hot day

Today

I am so proud of my soon to be 4th graders....EVERYONE worked so hard today and gave it their all!  Remember, one more test tomorrow.  Please get a good night's sleep tonight and have a good breakfast.  Thank you parents for all your support and I hope all my mother's had a wonderful mother's day!

Next Week 5/7-5/11

First let me THANK all the parents and students that made me feel so special and appreciated this week!  The treats, drinks, goodies, notes and gifts made my week.  Thank you all for making me feel so loved!  The feeling is mutual. :)
 
Monday- wear yellow and study facts- mixed quiz on Friday
Tuesday- wear orange and Reading and/or Math homework for a FREE pass or even 2 FREE passes
Wednesday- wear green and study spelling words for Friday
Thursday- wear purple and complete any homework not done
Friday- Mixed Fact Quiz and Spelling Test

NEWS you need to know

On Monday May 14th and Tuesday, May 15th Students in 3rd will take the Math and Reading STAAR

Please make sure that your child:
 
1. Gets a good night’s sleep
2. Gets his/her things together the night before so that they are not rushed the next morning
3. Starts his/her day in a calm manner has a good breakfast
4. Is ON TIME to school (by 8:40) so that he/she can do well on this very important test! 

Due to test security requirements, visitors will not be allowed in the building.
Students will be eating lunch “picnic” style in their classrooms. Although lunches from the cafeteria will be available, it is highly encouraged that students bring a lunch from home on May 14th and 15th. No outside lunches will be delivered to your child. 
Your efforts to ensure that your child is prepared for testing are sincerely appreciated! Thank you!

This Week 4/30-5/4

Tuesday- Work on Math homework (passed out Friday)- Review for Test on Friday over Financial Literacy
Wednesday- Practice spelling words and division facts for tests Friday
Thursday- Make sure math homework is complete
Friday- Spelling test, Division Fact Quiz, and Financial Literacy Test
 
Right now we are reviewing a different topic/TEK in class to prepare for STAAR.  Your child's attendance is very important.  Thank you for your continued support!

TEST Friday- Animal Adaptations

Sorry, I did not include this on the Planner Page with your kiddos, but I was not sure we were going to finish Animal Adaptations on time.  YAY!! We finished today so there will be a test on Friday.  I thought better to have a test on Friday than drag it out until Monday.  We will complete the review in class tomorrow and I will send it home with your child.  We will spend Thursday in class reviewing also.  Have a great remainder of your week!  

Next Week 4/16-4/20

  1. Next week we will begin reviewing for STAAR in Math.  Attendance is very important on review days, as we will do one topic a day until our STAAR test. 
  2. Also, your child has access to Xtra Math through Google Classroom.  The fact quizzes are getting harder this time of the year.  If you child has time at night or on the weekends, it only takes a few minutes each day to practice. Thank you for your continued support!
 
Monday- Make sure you are reading daily
Tuesday- Study your division facts
Wednesday-Study your spelling words
Thursday- Complete homework with ALL strategies for free passes
Friday- Division Fact Quiz (10,2,5,1) and Spelling Test! Math and Reading homework turned in with ALL strategies for Free Pass.  Reading and Math homework are not required this week, but encouraged. 

Next Week 4/9-4/13

Monday- Make sure you are reading every night
Tuesday- Study your facts for this week
Wednesday- Make sure your Math homework is done...due Friday
Thursday- Complete Reading passage for a free pass
Friday-Fact Quiz (3, 4, 6, 8), Spelling Test, and Data/Graph Test(Review went home today 4/6)
