Hi! My name is Mrs. Davis. I am SO excited to be teaching at Rosehill Elementary this year!  More importantly, I am THRILLED to be your 2nd grade teacher. This will be my 8th year teaching and 7th year teaching 2nd grade. I LOVE 2nd grade! It is going to be a fun year full of LOTS of learning and I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us. I want to know ALL about you, but first I am going to tell you a little about me.

I was born in Columbus Ohio, but moved to North Carolina at a young age. After college I moved to Texas and have been here for about eight years now. I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte… Go 49ers!! I majored in Elementary Education and could not wait to start teaching.

I have two dogs that are spoiled rotten. Tara is a Rhodesian Ridge back mix and Sam is a Terrier mix. Sam is the one always getting into trouble and I am sure you will hear many stories about him this year.

Hi parents,

We will be rotating around the school for these animal presentations and will come together as a grade level for an outdoor picnic lunch. As usual, your child can bring his/her lunch or purchase a lunch from the cafeteria. We encourage each child to wear his/her class t-shirt and to bring a beach towel to sit on while eating outside. If you have any questions , please feel free to contact me.
- Our annual Rosehill Field Day will be on May 18th. Students are asked to wear their class shirts again along with comfortable shoes and shorts/pants. We will be having another picnic lunch that day. If you have not returned the yellow information sheet about your child's lunch, please do so as soon as possible so the cafeteria can prepare accordingly. Hello parents! Here is an overview of what is going on this week as well as upcoming events:

- A science review was sent home yesterday. The students will take the Unit 9 test over animal characteristics and adaptations this Thursday.

- Progress reports will go home in tomorrow's Wednesday's folder. Please sign and return as soon as possible.

- Wednesday folders will also contain another school supply form for those who choose to pre-order supplies for next year.

- A bright yellow form was sent home in last week's folder regarding field day. Please return the form indicating whether your child will need a sack lunch that day. This will allow the cafeteria to plan accordingly. If you have misplaced this please send a note or email.

Looking ahead:

- Next Friday will be our On-Campus Field Trip Day and Career Day! I will send another message next week to let you know what your child will need to bring.

Thank you and have a great week!

Ms. Davis

Hello, parents! I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend. We will be having a math test on Friday, which will cover 2-dimensional shapes and 3-dimensional shapes. I am sending home a review today for your child to complete throughout the week. Please help them as needed and if you have any other questions please feel free to email me.

Also, the 2nd grade awards will be Friday at 9:20. Hope to see you there!

Have a great week!

Hello, parents! Inside your child's backpack you will find a blue sheet of paper outlining a project we will be working on for social studies. This project will involve your help at home. You will be responsible for creating an important person in history with a soda bottle for the head and various tools for their head. This project is due on Monday, April 9th, but I wanted to give you time to begin collecting the materials. Your child picked an important person to research in class.

Please look thoroughly over the instructions on the blue paper. You may also google 'Soda Bottle Project' and numerous images will come up. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Hello parents! Here are a few reminders and updates on what's happening in our class this week:

- All donations for the Fun Run are due by this Thursday. If your child collected any money for this fundraiser, please be sure to send it to school by March 29th.

- In addition to our spelling test, we will also be having a reading test this Thursday. We typically do not send home a review because reading tests are based on performance. However, if you'd like to help your child prepare, you can have him/her review story elements such as naming the characters of a story, listing and explaining character traits, the setting and describing the plot (beginning, middle and end of the story). Additionally, you can have your child compare plots for two different stories.

- Please be on the lookout for report cards in tomorrow's Wednesday folder. As always, please sign the envelope and return as soon as possible.

- I am also sending a Scholastic book order. Please send back any orders by April 6th.

- Also keep in mind that Friday is a student holiday.

Have a wonderful week and 3 day weekend!

Hello parents! We have lots of stuff going on over the next couple of weeks so I want to keep you up to speed with some reminders:

- Last week the students received information regarding an in-class time line project. If you have not done so, please help your child collect 5 photos with a short description to bring to class. These photos will be returned in a few weeks.

- This week's Wednesday folder will contain the 2nd progress report of the 9 weeks. Please sign and return as soon as possible.
