Hi! My name is Mrs. Davis. I am SO excited to be teaching at Rosehill Elementary this year!  More importantly, I am THRILLED to be your 2nd grade teacher. This will be my 8th year teaching and 7th year teaching 2nd grade. I LOVE 2nd grade! It is going to be a fun year full of LOTS of learning and I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us. I want to know ALL about you, but first I am going to tell you a little about me.

I was born in Columbus Ohio, but moved to North Carolina at a young age. After college I moved to Texas and have been here for about eight years now. I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte… Go 49ers!! I majored in Elementary Education and could not wait to start teaching.

I have two dogs that are spoiled rotten. Tara is a Rhodesian Ridge back mix and Sam is a Terrier mix. Sam is the one always getting into trouble and I am sure you will hear many stories about him this year.

Hello parents,

These are a few things to look for in the next week or two:

 - Wednesday folder will have a blue order form for our class shirt. This shirt will be used for the Cougar Dash & Field day (later this year). Please complete the form to include your child's size and send the payment of $7 as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to contact me.

- Progress reports will also go home in the Wednesday folder. Please sign and return.

- We will have our unit test in Math NEXT WEDNESDAY (Feb. 7th), but I am sending the review home tomorrow so the kids can have plenty of time to prepare. Subtraction with regrouping has been a challenging skill, therefore I'd like to give them more than enough study time.

- Next week we will also have our 2nd grade program. Performances will be at 2:30 and the after school performance  will be at 6:30 pm. (Students will need to be in the music room by 6:15 pm)

Thanks so much for all of your help! Have a wonderful week!

Happy Wednesday!

I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather. Here are a few reminders.

  • If you would like to order books from the scholastic pages that were sent home last week, please send the order form and money in by Friday, January 26th.

  • Please save and send any Box Tops in with your child.
  • There is also a correction on the date of the Valentines Party: It will be on Thursday, February 15th .
  • School pictures will be Tuesday, January 30th.
Thank you for all you do at home and have a wonderful week!

Hello parents! We have a few things going on this week that I thought I'd share with you all.

- Tomorrow are picture retakes. If your child  missed the first picture takes or would like to retake them, please let me know and I will make sure they get those done.

- Rosehill is celebrating college week. Please have your child wear a college shirt/jersey Wednesday and/or Friday to show their support.

- Second grade will be celebrating Thanksgiving on Friday and will be having a special Pow-Wow snack as a grade level. The note requesting specific items was sent last week. If you are able to contribute, please send the designated snack item as soon as possible.

Thanks for your support, have a great week!

Hello parents,

- Wednesday folders were sent home yesterday. Due to our recent gradebook issues, the progress reports have not been printed. They will be printed and sent home Friday afternoon; please look for those in the daily folder. They should be signed and returned as soon as possible.

- A new scholastic book order flyer was sent home in the folder in Wednesday folders. If your child would like to purchase books, orders and payment should be turned in next Wednesday, Nov. 15th.

- The school fundraiser has begun! Students are encouraged to participate by selling Texas Roadhouse Rolls! As they sell to friends and family, the orders should be documented and payments can be stored in the envelope provided. All sales are due back to the homeroom teacher December 7th.

As always, thank you for all of your support! Have a great week!

Good evening parents,

The district is having some technical difficulties with our gradebook system. If you have access to your child's online gradebook, please know that because of these issues the current grades are not up to date. We will let you know when the system has been restored and new grades have been entered. Please feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions about your child's grades.

Also, please remember the Problem Solving Test will be on Monday. A review was sent home yesterday.

Thank you for your support and understanding! Have a great weekend!
